ChemFinity Raises $7M, Unlocking Mineral Recovery

Brooklyn-based ChemFinity Technologies, founded from UC Berkeley research, has secured an oversubscribed $7 million seed round. The investment was led by At One Ventures and Overture Ventures, with support from several others, to accelerate pilot projects and scale their innovative mineral recovery technology.

The company has developed a sorbent system capable of extracting more than 20 important minerals from complex waste streams, including rare earths, platinum group metals, and copper. These sorbents work like nano sponges, precisely tuned to capture specific metals efficiently and under mild conditions.

As global supply chains face pressure from environmental regulations, declining ore quality, and reliance on imports, ChemFinity’s approach offers a cleaner and more cost-effective alternative. The process requires only two steps: leaching, which dissolves the material, followed by sorbent filtration.

ChemFinity is scaling operations, partnering with recyclers and refiners, and growing its Brooklyn team. Their mission is to provide reliable access to high-purity critical minerals while reducing energy use, costs, and environmental impact.
